Aidan Becker, a 22-year-old hospital security guard, has been identified as the Good Samaritan who was fatally stabbed while trying to protect a 14-year-old boy from a group of alleged teen attackers at Mernda train station in Melbourne's northeast on Friday evening.

According to Victoria Police Homicide Squad Inspector Nigel L'Estrange, Becker intervened when he witnessed the younger boy being attacked by a group of teenagers. When Becker attempted to walk away with the boy to safety, he was subjected to what police described as a "savage" attack involving punching, kicking, and the use of bladed weapons.

Multiple Charges Filed

Three teenagers have been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing. A 16-year-old from Whittlesea and a 17-year-old from Geelong were both charged with murder and armed robbery. A third 17-year-old from the City of Yarra remained under police guard in hospital as of Sunday and had not yet been charged.

Inspector L'Estrange emphasized the tragic nature of the case, stating, "This is just a tragic situation where our victim here is just a good Samaritan who was trying to do the right thing."
