A Tomball Independent School District career and technical education (CTE) student has earned regional recognition after using classroom medical training to help save a life in a real-world emergency situation.

Sandy Tellez, a student in the district's CTE program, successfully applied emergency medical skills learned through classroom simulations when faced with an actual medical crisis. The student's quick thinking and proper application of training techniques helped provide critical care during the emergency.

The incident demonstrates the practical value of hands-on career and technical education programs that prepare students with real-world skills. Tomball ISD's CTE program includes medical training components that simulate emergency scenarios, teaching students proper response procedures and life-saving techniques.

Following the life-saving intervention, Tellez received regional recognition for the heroic actions.
